A British charity worker found dead inside a suitcase in Greece has been remembered as a ‘kind, principled and selfless.’
The remains of charity worker and Christian missionary Elizabeth-Jane Ross, 38, from Edinburgh, were found dumped in Athens on July 18, three days after she was reported missing from her apartment.
Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, an Afghan boxer, is the prime suspect in the case, and he is accused of killing and transporting her body in a suitcase before dumping it.
Now Ms Ross’s family and friends have paid tribute to their loved one, known as Lisa.
Her family said in a statement: ‘Lisa will always be remembered by us as kind, principled and selfless.
‘Her integrity was absolute, and she dedicated her life to helping others in need.

‘We are in deep pain, and we ask for time and privacy as we come to terms with our loss.’
Ms Ross had been volunteering with a refugee group in Greece before going missing from her flat on July 16.
She had arrived in Greece on June 26, and stayed with friends until July 10.
Ms Ross’s friend, Magali Tassone, 41, had met her while the pair shared a room at a missionary organisation in Switzerland in 2013.
Speaking to BBC News Scotland, she said her friend had ‘deep compassion’ for women and refugees surviving abuse, and she wanted to help them.
She said her traumatic death was ‘terrible’ and ‘painful.’
Peter Anderson, a pastor at the independent Christian church called City on a Hill in Edinburgh, paid tribute to her in a social media post: ‘We have lost a precious church member, Lisa. She was a member of our church for 20 years, and a very, very precious girl, and it’s a real tragic loss.
‘Lisa’s life was actually all about mission.
‘She served people and she cared for people all over the world.’
Ahmadzai, who arrived in Greece as a refugee via Pakistan, Iran and Turkey as a teenager, appeared in court yesterday charged with Ms Ross’s murder.
He is also accused of stealing over €10,000 from her bank account.
