King Charles and Prince Louis share sweet moment at Easter service | News UK
Easter is big business in the royal family.
Every year, senior members of ‘The Firm’ gather at St. George’s Chapel on the Windsor Castle estate for a special Sunday service — complete with crowds of fans who congregate outside for a glance at royalty.
This year, King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with their three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
The Wales’ attendance was huge news in itself; the family skipped the 2024 and 2025 services amid Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.
However, while Kate’s appearance was rightly a highlight for many royal fans, it was a younger member of the Wales clan who garnered the most attention.

Yep, the notoriously cheeky Prince Louis stole the show this weekend, alongside his grandfather, King Charles.
It’s easy to forget that, behind the regalia, media training, and royal ‘brand,’ they’re a family, too. And, it’s sweet grandparent-grandchildren moments like this that remind us of the fact.
While waiting outside the church for the King and Queen Camilla to enter first, William, Kate, and the kids stood respectfully to the side.
As Charles walked past his family, he blew a kiss to his grandchildren before stopping to interact with Louis, placing a playful pat on the prince’s shoulder.
Louis was then seen smiling after the interaction, giving royal fans insight into the hands-on, warm relationship the pair seem to share.
Body language expert Judi James unpacked the tender moment, telling WTX that it was an ‘important soft launch of the pared-down royal firm.’
‘Charles isn’t given to spontaneous moments of public affection, but he appeared driven to firstly chat to Louis and then put a finger out to touch.’
While it might be more usual to cup a child’s face, James said that this touch ‘suggested a desire to show affection from a man for whom the act might not be a natural inclination.’
‘It’s Charles’s slight awkwardness about PDAs that makes this gesture of fondness even more poignant, perhaps offered as a reward ritual as much as a sign of affection.’
Of course, this isn’t the first time Charles and Louis have publicly shared their bond. At many royal events over the years, the pair have ditched the formal, traditional approach in favour of a more casual, loving spectacle.
The most recent was at 2025’s Trooping the Colour. The king was seen laughing and pointing at Louis’s (now iconic) Buckingham Palace balcony antics, as the youngster cheekily mimicked his grandfather.
Earlier, in 2022, Louis was pictured sitting on the then-Prince Charles’ lap during the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The royals have had enough drama to last them a lifetime recently, following one Andrew scandal after another.
From the king stripping his younger brother of his titles to Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, it was recently reported that the former royal’s belongings were burned outside the 30-room Windsor Royal Lodge estate.
For the last two decades, Andrew had lived there virtually rent-free with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, until Charles evicted them in February this year.
